Employment. Agriculture is the dominant local industry. Many residents commute to Duns, Berwick, or work remotely.

Amenities. Modest: a small village shop, a parish church, a village hall, and a primary school. There is a bowling club. For comprehensive shopping and services, residents rely on Duns or Berwick. The surrounding Merse and the nearby Lammermuir Hills offer excellent walking and cycling.
